Le double Boll/Fejer-Konnerth a dû déclarer forfait dès le 1er tour du double messieurs en raison du décès du père de Fejer-Konnerth.

The fifth day of the European Table Tennis Championships was characterized by a dramatic personal event.
The Men Double’s title holders, Timo Boll (number one in the world ranking) and Zoltan Fejer-Konnerth, did not surprisingly play the qualification match in the Men Double against the couple from Lithuania Justas Galatiltis and Audrius Kacerauskas, who automatically won the match. The sensational withdrawal of the German couple was caused by the sudden death of Fejer-Konnerth’s father and the player had to leave immediately Courmayeur for Germany.
For the moment these European Championships have not been so lucky for Germany: the women’s team was surprisingly eliminated by Italy in the quarterfinals and the men’s team lost against Belarus in Tuesday’s final.
